The Fiery Tales series takes familiar fairy tales and sets them in the French aristocracy of the 17th century. A Midnight Dance (2011), a Cinderella retelling, opens the series. Subsequent books rework Sleeping Beauty, The Little Match Girl, Little Red Riding Hood, The Ugly Duckling, and other stories into full-length and novella-length historical romances.
Lila DiPasqua keeps the recognizable structure of each fairy tale while adding the romantic and political complications of Baroque-era France. The series ran ten books from 2010 to 2018, mixing full novels with shorter entries. Each book can be read independently, though the shared French setting gives the series a consistent atmosphere.
