The Fear Street Cheerleaders series is one of the most popular spin-offs in the Fear Street franchise. It started in 1992 as part of the Super Chiller line with The First Evil, which introduced Corky and Bobbi Corcoran, two sisters who join the Shadyside High cheerleading squad. An evil spirit connected to Fear Street begins possessing cheerleaders, leading to accidents, deaths, and escalating supernatural terror.
The original trilogy (The First Evil, The Second Evil, The Third Evil) came out in 1992 and tells one continuous story about Corky’s battle against the evil force. The New Evil followed in 1994 (also published as a Super Chiller), and The Evil Lives! closed out the series in 1998. Each book builds on the last, so the Cheerleaders series needs to be read in sequence, unlike most Fear Street books.
The Cheerleaders storyline stands out in the Fear Street franchise for its strong supernatural element and recurring cast. While many Fear Street books feature one-off characters, the Cheerleaders series lets readers follow Corky and her friends across multiple installments. It is frequently named by fans as their favorite Fear Street sub-series. The combination of high school cheerleading drama with genuine horror gave these books a distinctive identity within the larger franchise.
