Eva Woods’ standalone novels are contemporary fiction about women navigating grief, friendship, and second chances. Her debut, The Thirty List, follows a woman approaching thirty who makes a list of things she wants to accomplish. The Ex Factor takes a lighter approach with a premise built around four single friends who agree to set each other up with their exes, leading to predictable chaos.
Something Like Happy (also titled How to Be Happy) marked a shift toward more emotional territory. It tells the story of Annie, a woman stuck in grief after the death of her infant son, who befriends Polly, a terminally ill woman determined to find happiness in her remaining time. The Inbetween Days (also titled The Lives We Touch) continued in this direction, and The Man I Can’t Forget, The Heartbreak Club, and You Are Here all deal with characters rebuilding their lives after loss. Woods writes about hard subjects, including terminal illness, suicide, and the death of a child, but her books balance that weight with warmth and the belief that connection between people makes a real difference.
