Erin Kelly’s standalone novels are psychological thrillers rooted in family secrets, toxic relationships, and the lies people tell to protect themselves. Her debut, The Poison Tree (2010), was a Richard and Judy pick and later an ITV drama. The Sick Rose (2011), The Burning Air (2013), and The Ties That Bind (2014) each built on that foundation with their own casts of flawed characters caught in spiraling deceptions.
He Said/She Said (2017) became her biggest hit, landing on the Sunday Times top 10 for six weeks. The novel, about a couple who witness a rape at an eclipse festival, questioned the reliability of testimony and the cost of getting involved. Stone Mothers (2019, published in the US as We Know You Know) and Watch Her Fall (2021) kept up her pace of one thriller every couple of years. The Skeleton Key (2023) won the Capital Crime Fingerprint Award for Genre-busting Book of the Year and has been optioned for television. Her most recent release, The House of Mirrors (2024), circles back to the world of The Poison Tree, catching up with those characters years later.
