The Endworld series is set in a post-apocalyptic America where nuclear war has reduced civilization to scattered pockets of survivors. The central characters live in a fortified compound called the Home, built before the war by a man named Kurt Carpenter. From this base, teams of warriors venture out on dangerous runs to other parts of the country, encountering mutants, hostile factions, and the ruins of the old world.
David Robbins launched the series in 1986 with The Fox Run and published steadily through 1991, producing 27 books in the original run. Each book is named after the destination of that particular mission, from Twin Cities Run to New Orleans Run. The series returned in 2009 with Doomsday and continued intermittently with new installments through 2018. The Endworld books combine fast-paced action with a survivalist premise that appealed to readers of 1980s post-apocalyptic fiction.
