Elizabeth Flock’s five standalone novels were published between 2003 and 2012. Each deals with characters facing psychological or emotional crises, from a television anchor’s breakdown in But Inside I’m Screaming to a family in upheaval in Everything Must Go (2006).
Me and Emma (2005) remains her most widely read novel, praised for its child narrator and an ending that reframes everything that came before. What Happened to My Sister (2012) is her most recent novel, revisiting a character from Me and Emma in a new story about starting over.
