Edgar Rice Burroughs’s standalone novels show the range of his interests beyond his famous series. The Monster Men (1913) is an early science fiction tale, The Girl from Hollywood (1922) satirizes the film industry, and The Bandit of Hell’s Bend (1924) is a western. Other titles range from medieval adventure (The Outlaw of Torn, 1914) to contemporary fiction.
These books demonstrate that while Tarzan and John Carter made Burroughs famous, he was willing to experiment with different genres and settings throughout his long career.
