The Duke series is Fenella J. Miller’s largest Regency romance sequence, running to nine books published from 2007 to 2017. Each book focuses on a different pairing, with a duke or aristocratic hero at the centre and a heroine who is usually either unsuitable by social standards or caught in a difficult situation that complicates the match.
The first book, The Duke’s Heir, appeared in 2007. A cluster of six more followed in 2013 as Miller’s output accelerated, covering a range of dukes facing different personal and political pressures. The Duke and the Vicar’s Daughter in 2014 and Search for a Duke in 2017 rounded out the series.
The books share the conventions of the Regency romance genre: balls, drawing rooms, interfering relatives, and obstacles to marriage eventually overcome. Miller writes at pace, and each volume delivers a complete story with its own resolution. Readers who enjoy the setting can move through all nine in any order, though publication order is the recommended starting point.
