Duane Boehm’s standalone novels make up nearly half of his published output, with fourteen books released between 2013 and 2025. His debut novel, In Just One Moment (2013), came out a year before he started the Gideon Johann series, and he has continued publishing standalone Westerns alongside his series work ever since.
These books cover a wide range of Western story types. The Hunt For Piper Oberg and The Hunted are pursuit stories, while Cheyenne Sunset and Sun Over The Mountains take a more reflective approach to frontier life. Trail To Yesterday looks backward at the Old West, and titles like Lone Justice and Shooting Star deal with the classic Western conflict between lawlessness and order.
Boehm releases new standalone novels regularly, often two or three per year. Readers who enjoy his series work will find the same straightforward prose style and attention to frontier detail in these books, but with the freedom of a self-contained story that wraps up in a single volume.
