The Dragon Lords of Valdier is S. E. Smith’s flagship series, with over 20 books published between 2011 and 2022. The series is set on the planet Valdier, where the males can shift into dragon form. Human women from Earth end up on Valdier and discover they are fated mates for the dragon warriors. Abducting Abby (2011) starts the series, and each subsequent book follows a new couple.
The series also includes several holiday-themed spinoff stories featuring the dragonlings, the children of the main couples. These shorter entries, like A Dragonlings’ Easter, A Dragonlings’ Haunted Halloween, and A Dragonlings’ Magical Christmas, add a lighter side to the series.
With books spanning over a decade, the Dragon Lords of Valdier has grown into a large, interconnected story world. Many of the characters appear across multiple books and connect to Smith’s other series, making this the central pillar of her larger fictional universe.
