Doris Piserchia’s short fiction appeared in two notable 1970s anthology series. Orbit 12, edited by Damon Knight and published in 1973, was part of the long-running Orbit series that championed experimental and literary science fiction. Science Fiction Discoveries followed in 1976.
These anthology appearances came alongside Piserchia’s novel output and show the shorter side of her imagination. The Orbit series in particular was known for publishing unconventional stories, which fits with Piserchia’s approach to the genre.
