God’s Other Son is a satirical novel by radio host Don Imus, first published in 1981. The book follows the Reverend Billy Sol Hargus, a character Imus created for his radio show, a lecherous and corrupt televangelist who claims his brother is Jesus Christ. The novel takes Imus’s on-air character and builds a full story around his hustling, scheming ministry.
The book was republished in 1994 and reached the New York Times bestseller list, where it stayed for seven weeks. The audiobook version, narrated by Imus himself, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album. The novel shows a different side of Imus from his radio work, though the same sharp, irreverent humor runs through both.
