Maria Adolfsson’s Doggerland series takes place on a fictional archipelago situated between England and Scandinavia. The islands, governed by their own laws and customs, provide a closed-world setting where crimes have deep roots in community history. Fatal Isles (2018) introduced detective Karen Eiken Hornby and established the geographic and social landscape.
The series has grown to nine books through Tiga som muren (2024), with both Swedish-language originals (Felsteg, Spring eller do, Fallvind) and English translations (Wild Shores, Cruel Tides) appearing in the catalog. The isolation of the island setting gives each investigation an added layer of tension, as suspects and witnesses have nowhere to hide and old grievances run deep.
