The Detective P.T. Marsh series is set in Mason Falls, a small town in Georgia where violent crimes cut through the quiet surface. Marsh is a detective carrying personal baggage, including grief and drinking problems, who still manages to be effective at his job. The Good Detective (2019) introduces both the character and the setting.
The Evil Men Do (2020) and A Good Kill (2021) continue Marsh’s story as the cases grow more complex and his personal stakes get higher. McMahon writes Southern crime fiction with sharp pacing, and the small-town Georgia setting gives the series a distinct atmosphere.
