The Deadly Curiosities series is set in Charleston, South Carolina, where Cassidy Kincaide runs Trifles and Folly, an antique shop that has been in operation for over 350 years. The shop serves as a front for the Alliance, a secret organization that hunts down dangerous supernatural objects. Cassidy has the psychometric gift of reading the history of objects by touch, which makes her especially effective at identifying items that carry dark magic or curses.
The first novel, Deadly Curiosities (2014), establishes the setting and Cassidy’s role in the Alliance. Vendetta (2015) raises the stakes when old enemies target the shop directly. The series continued with Tangled Web (2018) and Inheritance (2019), with each book introducing new threats rooted in Charleston’s long, haunted history. Martin draws heavily on the city’s real folklore, ghost stories, and Southern Gothic atmosphere throughout the series.
