The Deadly Allies anthologies are joint projects between Sisters in Crime and the Private Eye Writers of America, co-edited by Julie Smith and Robert J. Randisi. The two volumes collect mystery and crime short stories from members of both organizations, bringing together writers who specialize in everything from cozy mysteries to hard-boiled PI fiction.
Published in 1992 and 1994, these anthologies capture the state of mystery fiction in the early 1990s. They feature a mix of well-known names and newer voices, with stories ranging from traditional whodunits to darker crime tales. The books are a good snapshot of the genre during a period when both Sisters in Crime and the Private Eye Writers of America were at their most active.
