D.B.C. Pierre has published eight standalone novels between 2003 and 2022. Vernon God Little, his debut, is a satirical novel about a Texas teenager caught up in the media circus following a school shooting. It won three major literary prizes and was translated into dozens of languages.
His later novels include Ludmila’s Broken English, Suddenly Doctor Cox, Lights Out in Wonderland, Breakfast with the Borgias, Meanwhile in Dopamine City, and Big Snake Little Snake. Release the Bats (2017) is a non-fiction work about writing craft. His fiction is characterized by dark humor, unreliable narrators, and sharp observations of modern absurdity.
