The Daughters of Lancaster County series is set in Pennsylvania’s Amish country and tells the story of the Fisher family across three connected novels. The Storekeeper’s Daughter opens with a devastating event, when young Naomi Fisher’s baby brother vanishes, and the fallout reshapes her life and her relationship with the man she loves. From there, each book follows a different woman whose life intersects with the Fisher family’s ongoing struggles.
The series deals with themes of faith, forgiveness, and community. The books explore how the characters respond to grief and loss within the rules and traditions of Amish life, and how love and healing can come from unexpected places. The trilogy became popular enough to inspire a stage musical called Stolen, adapted from the central kidnapping storyline.
