Danny Wallace’s non-fiction books follow a consistent pattern: he commits to an unusual experiment or quest, then writes about what happens with self-deprecating humor. Are You Dave Gorman? (2001, co-written with Dave Gorman) kicked things off, followed by Join Me! (2003), about accidentally founding an international collective devoted to random acts of kindness.
Yes Man (2005) is his best-known work, documenting a year of saying yes to everything. The book led to a Hollywood adaptation starring Jim Carrey. His other non-fiction titles include Danny Wallace and the Centre of the Universe (2006), Friends Like These (2007), and Awkward Situations for Men (2010). Each book finds Wallace putting himself in uncomfortable or absurd situations and reporting back with warmth and humor. His most recent non-fiction work, Operation: Evil Genius, came out in 2024.
