Curtis Sittenfeld’s standalone novels span from 2005 to 2023 and cover a wide range of subjects. Prep follows Lee Fiora, a scholarship student from Indiana who attends an elite Massachusetts boarding school. The Man of My Dreams (2006) traces a young woman’s romantic life from adolescence through her late twenties.
American Wife (2008) is loosely based on the life of Laura Bush and follows Alice Blackwell from her Wisconsin girlhood to the White House. Sisterland (2013) is about identical twins in St. Louis, one of whom has psychic abilities. Rodham (2020) imagines Hillary Clinton’s life had she not married Bill, and Romantic Comedy (2023) is a lighter story about a sketch comedy writer and a celebrity guest host.
