Craig Hunter works as a Detective Sergeant with Police Scotland, and while he appears in the Scott Cullen Mysteries, his own trilogy gives him room to lead. Missing opens the series in 2016 with a missing persons investigation that draws Hunter into a sprawling case, and Hunted followed in 2017 with a story that tests his capabilities under pressure.
The third book, The Black Isle (2019), takes Hunter out of Edinburgh and to the Highlands, with the north of Scotland providing a change of atmosphere and a case with its own regional texture. Ed James uses the Highland setting to explore a different side of Scottish policing from his urban Edinburgh stories.
The series is short at three books but works well as a focused character study within the wider Ed James Police Scotland world.
