Convergence was a DC Comics crossover event published in 2015, consisting of a main eight-issue series written by Jeff King and Scott Lobdell with contributions from Dan Abnett, along with dozens of tie-in miniseries set in various alternate timeline cities. The main event collected here includes the primary volumes and selected tie-ins.
The story centers on Brainiac, who has been collecting domed cities from different eras and alternate Earths throughout DC’s history. These cities are transported to a planet outside time and space, where the dome barriers are removed and the inhabitants must fight to the death against each other. The event revisited classic pre-Crisis DC continuities, including the Earth-Two Justice Society, alongside newer incarnations.
Convergence was produced during a period when DC Comics was relocating from New York to Los Angeles and served as a publishing placeholder during the transition. It was criticized for its rushed execution and dense continuity requirements but offered fans of classic DC characters the chance to see versions of those characters in action again. Abnett contributed to specific tie-in issues within the larger event framework.
