The Connections series launched with Connected, a love story centered on a young woman grieving a loss and the rock musician who enters her life unexpectedly. The book established the world of the series: Los Angeles, the music industry, and a tight group of friends whose lives kept intersecting. Torn followed immediately in 2013, and by 2014 Karr had released four more books including Blurred, Frayed, and Mended, expanding the series in scope and cast.
Each book in the series takes a different couple as its focus while keeping the broader friend group visible throughout. The tone leans emotional and at times quite dark, with characters working through grief, betrayal, and complicated family histories. The Torn Epilogue, also from 2014, gives fans a short additional look at one of the central relationships after the main story concludes.
Flawed arrived in 2018, several years after the original run, revisiting the Connections world with a story that fits into the established timeline. Bent, the final entry, rounds out the nine-book series. Readers who enjoy slow-burn tension, music as a backdrop to romance, and long-running emotional arcs will find a lot to work through in this series.
