Cody’s War brought Stephen Mertz’s military action hero back in 2019 with Dragonfire! and four more books released the same year. The series continued with additional installments in 2022 and 2023, updating the mission locations to include Afghanistan and Syria.
The ten-book series maintains the fast-paced, mission-driven structure of its predecessor while reflecting the changed landscape of modern warfare. Mertz published the books under his own name rather than the Jim Case pseudonym used for the original Cody’s Army.
