Claire Keegan has published three short story collections across a career spanning more than two decades. Antarctica (1999) launched her career with stories that won the Rooney Prize for Irish Literature and the William Trevor Prize, among other honors. The stories are set in Ireland and deal with isolation, family, and the private struggles of quiet lives.
Walk the Blue Fields (2007) continued in the same tradition, with stories that are deeply rooted in the landscapes and communities of rural Ireland. So Late in the Day (2023) is her most recent collection, arriving after the international success of Small Things Like These. Keegan’s collections reward careful reading; every sentence carries weight.
