Robert Harris’s Cicero trilogy follows the great Roman orator and statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero through the last decades of the Roman Republic. Narrated by Tiro, Cicero’s loyal secretary, the three books cover his rise to power, his political battles, and the collapse of the Republic.
“Imperium” (2006) covers Cicero’s early career and his prosecution of the corrupt governor Verres. “Conspirata” (2009) deals with the Catiline conspiracy and Cicero’s consulship. “Dictator” (2016) follows the final years through Caesar’s assassination and the wars that followed.
