The Chronicles of Galen Sword is an urban fantasy trilogy that predates much of the genre’s modern boom. Starting with Shifter in 1990, the series follows Galen Sword as he discovers a hidden supernatural world layered over everyday reality. The second book, Nightfeeder (1991), expands the mythology, and Dark Hunter (2003) concludes the trilogy after a long gap between publications.
The Reeves-Stevens bring their science fiction sensibility to the fantasy genre, treating the supernatural elements with an almost clinical precision that grounds the fantastical in something approaching plausibility. The series has a cult following among urban fantasy readers who appreciate its blend of thriller pacing and worldbuilding.
