The Chippewa series was among Cassie Edwards’s early work, published between 1983 and 1987. The five novels feature Chippewa (Ojibwe) characters in frontier-era settings, with romance plots that follow the patterns Edwards would use throughout her career: stories of love across cultural boundaries set in historical Native American communities.
The series shares the “Savage” titling convention with Edwards’s much larger Savage series, though the Chippewa books form their own connected sequence. These early novels helped establish the template for the dozens of similar romances Edwards would write over the following three decades.
