Chencia C. Higgins’s standalone novels show her range outside of her series work. Her & Them (2017) was an early release, followed by Consolation Gifts (2020). The book that brought her the most attention is D’Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding (2022), a fake-dating sapphic romance published through Carina Press in which two Black women pretend to be engaged for a reality show and end up falling for each other along the way.
Her most recent standalone, A Little Kissing Between Friends (2024), continues her focus on relationships that blur the line between friendship and romance. These books don’t require any series knowledge and work well as entry points for readers new to Higgins’s writing.
