Carl Hiaasen’s standalone novels span nearly four decades of Florida-set crime fiction. Tourist Season (1986) was his first solo novel and established his template of combining crime plots with environmental satire and dark humor. Strip Tease (1993) was adapted into a major film, and Basket Case (2002), Nature Girl (2006), and Squeeze Me (2020) continued his run of darkly funny Florida stories.
Some of these standalone titles share characters with his series work. Bad Monkey and Razor Girl appear here as well as in the Andrew Yancy series listing. Fever Beach (2025) is his most recent novel, continuing a career that has made Hiaasen one of the most distinctive voices in American crime fiction.
