The Captain Rawson series is set during the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714), with British officer Daniel Rawson serving under the Duke of Marlborough. Rawson works as both a soldier and an intelligence agent, carrying out missions behind enemy lines while the great battles of the war rage around him.
Five books were published between 2008 and 2011, starting with Soldier of Fortune. The series mixes military history with espionage and personal drama, and Marston draws on real campaigns and battles to ground the fiction in historical fact.
