Brink is a creator-owned comics series written by Dan Abnett with art by INJ Culbard, originally published in the British anthology 2000 AD and collected in five graphic novel volumes from 2017 to 2022. The series is set centuries in the future where Earth is uninhabitable and billions of people live in massive but deteriorating space habitats. The central character is Bridget “Bridgette” Kurtis, a Hab Security officer who investigates crimes within the cramped, socially pressured habitat environment.
Each volume presents a distinct investigation that connects to an escalating conspiracy involving cults, corporate interests, and forces exploiting the desperation of habitat populations. Brink functions as both police procedural and science fiction world-building, with Culbard’s clear, expressive art keeping the crowded interior environments visually distinct.
The series is read in order, as the larger conspiracy develops across all five books. Brink: Book One is the recommended starting point and establishes both the setting and Kurtis’s character before the larger narrative stakes become apparent. The series has been one of the more acclaimed 2000 AD creator-owned projects of the 2010s.
