The Bride Quest is one of Claire Delacroix’s most structured series, with each book following a different Norman knight as he arrives in Ireland to claim the bride promised to him. The premise creates a natural reading order and a consistent world across six books published between 1998 and 2002.
The six original titles give each heroine an aristocratic designation — Princess, Damsel, Heiress, Countess, Beauty, Temptress — that signals her role and the nature of the central conflict in her story. The series was popular enough that Delacroix returned to it in 2023, adding Christmas at Tullymullagh and Easter at Airdfinnan as holiday stories that revisit the world and characters.
Reading in publication order, starting with The Princess (1998), gives the most coherent experience of the world Delacroix builds across the series.
