The Brad Miller / Dana Cutler series is written by Phillip Margolin, a former criminal defense attorney based in Portland, Oregon. The series pairs young lawyer Brad Miller with private investigator Dana Cutler as they get pulled into cases involving political corruption at the highest levels of the U.S. government. Margolin draws on his decades of courtroom experience to create plots that move between law offices, the White House, and the Supreme Court.
The first book, Executive Privilege, begins when Dana Cutler is hired to follow a college student who turns up dead after a secret meeting with the President of the United States. Supreme Justice takes the duo into a case connected to a nominee for the Supreme Court, while Capitol Murder involves a terrorist attack on a football stadium and the escape of a convicted serial killer. The fourth book, Sleight of Hand, features a magician accused of murder. Each novel works as a standalone story but rewards readers who follow Brad and Dana through the full series.
