The Bob Lee Swagger series began with Point of Impact in 1993 and introduced one of the most popular action heroes in modern thriller fiction. Bob Lee Swagger, nicknamed “Bob the Nailer,” is a retired Marine sniper and Vietnam War veteran living in Arkansas who gets drawn into conspiracies that force him to use his skills again. The first three novels form a loose trilogy covering events from the Vietnam War through the 1990s.
Hunter is known for his technical accuracy when writing about firearms, marksmanship, and military tactics. The series spans from the 1990s through the 2020s, with later books like The 47th Samurai taking Swagger to Japan and Sniper’s Honor set partially during World War II. Point of Impact was adapted into the 2007 film Shooter and later a television series on USA Network.
