Blood and Thunder is a self-published series from Susan Stephens that takes a grittier approach than some of her Harlequin titles. The five books each feature a different alpha male hero, starting with Christmas Tsar in 2016, which pairs a Russian billionaire with a holiday setting. Argentinian Billionaire follows in 2017, drawing on the South American settings Stephens knows well from her Acostas work.
The later books in the series, Diego, Cesar, and Conor, were published between 2021 and 2022. Each is built around a single hero whose name forms the title. Conor is described as an enemies-to-friends romance with an Irish hero, while Diego and Cesar bring their own distinct personalities and cultural backgrounds to the page. The series has a rawer, more character-driven feel compared to Stephens’ category romance output, giving her room to develop heroes who are rougher around the edges.
