The Beach View Boarding House series (later rebranded as the Cliffehaven series) is set in a fictional English coastal town during World War II. At its center is Peggy Reilly, who runs the boarding house and takes in evacuees, war workers, and anyone who needs a safe place to land. Each novel introduces new characters arriving in Cliffehaven while following the ongoing lives of the town’s residents through the war years and beyond.
Starting with There’ll Be Blue Skies in 2011, the series grew to become Ellie Dean’s signature work, with 21 books published through 2025. The novels deal with rationing, air raids, family separation, and the daily realities of wartime Britain, but they’re grounded in community, friendship, and romance rather than battlefield action. Readers who enjoy wartime sagas with a strong sense of place and recurring characters will find a lot to like here.
