The Battle Royale Manga adapts Koushun Takami’s novel into a 15-volume graphic series, with English editions published between 2003 and 2006. The manga retells the story of a class of students forced into a government-mandated death match, translating the novel’s tension and violence into visual form.
The English-language manga volumes were published by Tokyopop and later by Viz Media. An Ultimate Edition collected format was also released. The manga gives readers a different experience of the Battle Royale story compared to the prose novel, with the visual medium allowing for more detailed depictions of the action sequences and character interactions that drive the plot.
