Bailey City Monsters is a nine-book spin-off from the Adventures of the Bailey School Kids. Published between 1997 and 2000, the series shifts focus from the school to a neighborhood where the Hauntly family has moved in. Unlike the original series, where it was always unclear whether the adults were really monsters, the Bailey City Monsters books feature characters who are openly supernatural.
The series includes The Monsters Next Door, Vampire Trouble, Kilmer’s Pet Monster, and several others. The books keep the humor of the original series while exploring what happens when monsters try to fit into a regular community. The Hauntly family became popular enough to get their own Super Special books as well.
