Starshine (2014) was G.S. Jennsen’s debut novel and the beginning of a universe that would expand across more than two decades of publication. The book’s opening — a ship gone silent at the edge of explored space, drawing Alex Solovy into investigation — established the tone of the Aurora Rhapsody series: character-driven space opera with a mystery at its core that opens out into larger conflicts.
Vertigo (2014) followed in the same year, and Transcendence (2015) completed the opening trilogy. The rapid publication pace of the first three novels reflected both Jennsen’s productivity and the commercial realities of self-published genre fiction, where readers expect short gaps between entries.
Aurora Rising works as an entry point to the full Amaranthe universe. Readers unfamiliar with the broader saga can start here without prior knowledge; the world is built from scratch across these three volumes.
