My Sweet Audrina, first published in 1982, was one of V.C. Andrews’s standalone novels. It follows a young girl raised in isolation by her father, who tells her she must absorb the gifts of her dead older sister. The story is full of unreliable memories, family lies, and the gothic atmosphere Andrews did best.
Whitefern, published in 2016, picks up the story years later. Like most of the post-1986 V.C. Andrews books, it was written by ghostwriter Andrew Neiderman. Readers who loved the original tend to treat it as a curiosity rather than a true companion piece.
