Beatrice Likes the Dark (2022), illustrated by Khoa Le, tells the story of two sisters. Beatrice likes the dark, the night, and graveyard picnics. Her sister Roo likes the light, the sun, and strawberries. Despite their differences, the sisters love each other. The book uses rhythm and repetition to explore how families hold together across different temperaments.
Merry and Hark (2023), illustrated by Rebecca Santo, is based on the true story of a small saw-whet owl found in the 2020 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Merry the owl lives in Hark, a Norway spruce. When the tree is cut down and brought to New York City, Merry follows. A kind woman finds and nurses the owl until it can be released back into the wild.
