Andre Alexis has published three standalone novels outside of his Quincunx Cycle. His debut novel, Childhood (1998), drew on themes of memory and identity while reflecting on growing up in Ottawa. It won the Books in Canada First Novel Award and the Trillium Book Award, and it was shortlisted for the Giller Prize.
Ingrid and the Wolf (2005) is a children’s book, while Asylum (2008) continued Alexis’s interest in philosophical and literary fiction. Together with his Quincunx novels and short fiction, these standalone books reflect the range of Alexis’s writing across genres and audiences.
