The American Indian Literature and Critical Studies series is one of the most significant publishing projects in Native American letters. The 52 volumes, published by the University of Oklahoma Press between 1988 and 2022, include novels, short story collections, poetry, and literary criticism by Indigenous writers.
The series features work from many major Native American authors alongside critical studies of Indigenous literature. Robert J. Conley served as a series editor, and his involvement helped shape the collection’s direction as a platform for Indigenous voices in American literature.
