The Amber Brown series ran for fourteen books between 1993 and 2014, making it one of the longer-running children’s fiction series out there. It starts with Amber Brown Is Not a Crayon and follows the character through a variety of situations reflected in the color-themed titles: Amber Brown Sees Red, Amber Brown Is Feeling Blue, Amber Brown Is Green With Envy, and Amber Brown Is Tickled Pink, among others.
The first stretch of books came out at a steady clip through the 1990s and early 2000s. After a gap following I, Amber Brown (1999), three more books appeared between 2012 and 2014, with Amber Brown Horses Around closing out the series. The list also includes Rien ne va plus pour Lili Graffiti, a French-language edition from 1998. Readers who grew up with these books in the ’90s will find that the later entries pick up right where the earlier ones left off.
