McCabe’s standalone novels cover nearly every historical period she has written in. Her earliest, Her Kind of Man (2000) and The Errant Earl (2002), are straightforward Regency romances. Lady Midnight added a darker, more atmospheric tone, while High Seas Stowaway brought adventure and travel into the mix.
Later standalones like Betrayed by His Kiss moved to Renaissance Italy, and The Queen’s Christmas Summons returned to Tudor England. Her most recent entries, A Manhattan Heiress in Paris and Secretary to the Socialite, take on Gilded Age and early 20th-century settings.
