Ally Condie’s standalone novels demonstrate the breadth of her interests. Her earlier works, Freshman for President (2008) and Being Sixteen (2010), are grounded contemporary YA stories. Atlantia (2014) moved into fantasy territory with twin sisters separated between an underwater city and the world above.
Her later standalones have continued to shift genres. Summerlost (2016) is a middle grade novel about loss and summer theater, while The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe (2019) is a darker tale of revenge on a gold-dredging ship. The Only Girl in Town (2023) explores eerie isolation, and The Unwedding (2024) puts characters in danger at a remote resort. The Girls Trip (2026) continues her move into adult fiction.
