Allan Folsom published two standalone thrillers before focusing on his John Barron/Nicholas Marten series. The Day After Tomorrow was his debut and became one of the biggest thriller releases of the 1990s, with a premise involving a secret neo-Nazi organization and a doctor hunting for his father’s killer across Europe.
Day of Confession followed in 1998, set largely in Vatican City and Rome. Both books share Folsom’s trademark style of sweeping international settings, multiple point-of-view characters, and fast-cutting between storylines. They can be read independently of each other and of his later series work.
