These two shorter works show different sides of Alison Bechdel’s range. Found Goddesses (1989), co-created with Morgan Grey, is a satirical guide to imaginary goddess figures. It blends feminist humor with Bechdel’s distinctive cartooning style and was published early in her career, around the same time she was producing the Dykes to Watch Out For strip.
What Do Cats Dream? (1999) is a lighter illustrated work that explores feline behavior through Bechdel’s observational humor. Both books are minor works compared to her major graphic memoirs, but they give readers a look at the range of her interests beyond autobiography.
