Ron Goulart wrote six Flash Gordon novels between 1974 and 1975, based on the classic comic strip character created by Alex Raymond. Five of the six came out in 1974 alone, with The War of the Cybernauts following in 1975. These are pulp science fiction paperbacks from the mid-1970s, the kind that were sold on spinner racks alongside other franchise tie-in novels of the era.
The book titles lean hard into the Flash Gordon tradition: The Lion Men of Mongo, The Witch Queen of Mongo, The Space Circus, The Time Trap of Ming XIII. If you grew up with the serials or the comic strips, these stories cover familiar ground. Goulart kept things fast and fun, and the short run means you can get through the whole set without a huge time commitment.
